Andy Armstrong, the father of a very successful man who has been through some rough times. The song "wake me up when September ends" was a song that Billie Joe Armstrong dedicated to his father after he died of cancer in September 1982 when Billie Joe was ten.
Billie dubbed the song the most autobiographical he had ever written to that point, considering it to be therapeutic, but also hard to perform because it was written about his father.

In the United States, the song became symbolic after Hurricane Katrina, where it was dedicated to victims of the disaster and also regarded as a dedication to the victims of the September 11 attacks that occurred in 2001. The song became the fourth single from American Idiot to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The song's music video depicts a couple broken apart by the Iraq War, which was intended to convey the song's central theme of loss. The song's music video was directed by Samuel Bayer, best known for his work with Nirvana and Metallica. Bayer wrote the treatment for the video, which he envisioned as a mini-movie. Bayer brought the idea of an Iraq War-themed video to the trio after interviewing soldiers who had signed up to fight after being persuaded by a television advertisement. The song's music video thus attempts to "turn the machine on itself" by acting as a commercial for "free thought or peace."Although it was far from the song's literal meaning, Armstrong felt it appropriate considering the song's theme of loss. Bayer noted that he felt bored with predictable music videos, and wanted to produce a video that felt like a film. Consequently, he and a crew spent a month casting actors for the roles and conducted rehearsals, uncommon for music videos. The clip was filmed in Los Angeles in late March 2004.

Green Day has sold more than 75 million records worldwide. The group has won five Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", Best Rock Album for the second time for 21st Century Breakdown and Best Musical Show Album for American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording. In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway. The musical was nominated for three Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design, losing only the first. Also in 2010, Green Day was ranked no. 91 in the VH1 list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". On April 18, 2015, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the 2015 class, in the band's first year of eligibility.

I recommend green day to anybody who likes songs that have a deeper meaning than meets the eye. Green day has songs that you can listen to in any mood.Their songs can be inspiring and ironic at the same time, they can also be happy but really sad at the same time. All around they are a generally good nice band that most people I have met like.

Graffiti vs. tattooing

In my drawing class we learned about graffiti. We had to draw any word we wanted as long as it looked like graffiti. My blog topic is the history of tattooing and lots of people get graffiti looking tattoos.I know I would. First of all to be able to give people tattoos you have to be artistic obviously but to do graffiti you have to have a specific skill that allows you to make intricate designs and intertwine them to make it look more 3D.
There is a huge connection between art and graffiti. Some people look at as destruction on ones body and others think of it as personal expression. But if you are an artist and you look at it form that point of view it is really just abstract work that happens to be permanent on somebodies skin."In an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between an artist and their work this thesis attempts to show the different ways artists engage in their craft. Utilizing narrative response, the analysis explores the relationship between three types of alternative art (tattooing, graffiti, and hip-hop) and the artists who create it. The propose of this thesis is to explore ways that education disenfranchises these young people by systematically devaluing their literary contributions as being less significant than more traditional understandings of literacy."said Sean Patrick Barry, Purdue University."Graffiti, considered an expressive curse of the lower class, gravitates naturally to the application of tattoos. Graffiti and tattoos are both considered forms of drawings or inscriptions outside of an archeological context — graffiti falling somewhat into a social nature, with tattoos being more personal. What do tattoos and graffiti have in common? Graffiti and tattoos share a kinship due to both being forms of advertising. They are begot from a desire or need to make a personal statement or be recognized or acknowledged in a manner synonymous with wearing of a uniform or badge — an elevation of pseudo importance. But, would you place graffiti on a new car or similar investment? Not likely. It could be very expensive to eradicate. Besides, it would devalue one’s property, not to mention that people might consider one daft. Yet, some people will put graffiti on a more valued commodity. They write or draw on a gift that comes along but once in a lifetime — their body!An automobile can be cleaned, repainted or replaced. But removal of a body tattoo is a difficult and painful process and can never be effectively removed 100 percent. A laser tool, used for tattoo erasing, can only attempt to remove tattoo ink. One’s skin will always show the effects of tattoo needle scarring.Typically, graffiti and tattoos are outlets for those whom are expressing disdain, dissatisfaction, rebellion or hurt in their life — usually against authority or something in life or society with which they cannot effectively cope with. People whom are driven to these extreme forms of expression are attempting to make their point of view known the only way they know how in order to get recognition, importance and satisfaction."

short story

It was a dark October afternoon a few weeks after Kitana's 18th birthday. She had been saving money for two years. She finally moved out and was free from the rules of her parents house. She had wanted a tattoo for  5 years and she finally had enough money to do so. Kitana went to the tattoo parlor closest to her house and patiently waited in line. when she finally got up to the counter the guy introduced himself as Ben.She followed him to the back and sat down in the chair. She watched him take the needle out of the package put it in the gun and ask her what she wanted as he was doing so. Kitana told Ben in great detail that she wanted a Gothic dreamcather on her right foot. She wanted it to look native to match her native american Indian background and she wanted a dogs paw in the middle and she wanted him to make it look like it was blowing in the wind with some feathers falling off and made to look like an anklet.
The boy who couldn't die. Its literally about this teenager named ken who could'nt die."when his best friend is killed in a plane crash, Ken makes a decision:He will never die.He finds a woman who claims she can make him invulnerable to pain and death for the unbelievable cheap price of fifty dollars. And her strange ritual works. Ken can't be burnt, beaten up,or even bitten by the shark he dives among on his spring break in the Caribbean."
"Ken can't die. but he can kill. As long as he's awake, he feels in complete control of his life. But at night the dreams take over- dreams of digging graves,of knifing strangers...then of trying to murder someone he loves. And no one can stop him not even himself. "
